3.0. Introduction

In this chapter, evidence in favor of Talmy’s typological distinction will be presented from a variety of interdisciplinary sources. In particular, evidence from such divergent areas as novels and translations, narrative elicitations, language acquisition, and gestures accompanying speech will be discussed.  This chapter draws from the research that Talmy's proposal has inspired.
