5.1.1.2. Representations of Events

None of the semantic role lists approaches to lexical semantic representation is fully satisfactory. This has led scholars to propose alternatives based on rich representations of the structure of events. They usually take the form of semantic decomposition of the predicates into primitive predicates and constants. Levin and Rappaport Hovav (1996) discuss at length three of the most important proposals of lexical semantic representation based on different conceptions of event structure, namely, the localist, the aspectual and the causal approaches.
